Boeing has introduced its first 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft family at its facility in South Carolina, US.

The newly built aircraft will be prepared for its first flight over the upcoming weeks, and delivered to its customers by next year.

The third and longest aircraft of the Dreamliner family, the new twin-aisle 787-10 Dreamliner is 18ft longer than its predecessor, the 787-9.

Exclusively built at Boeing’s South Carolina facility, the new aircraft model will provide up to 10% better fuel use and emissions than its counterparts.

Boeing commercial airplanes president and CEO Kevin McAllister said: “This airplane, the most efficient in its class, is the result of years of hard work and dedication from our Boeing teammates, suppliers and community partners in South Carolina and across the globe.

“We know our customers, including launch customer Singapore Airlines, are going to love what the 787-10 will do for their fleets, and we can’t wait to see them fly it.”

Boeing has so far secured 149 orders from nine customers for the 787-10 Dreamliner.

In 2011, the company launched its 787 aircraft family, which has so far flown more than 140 million people on 530 routes worldwide.

Boeing recently secured a $1.32bn order from Juneyao Airlines for five 787-9 Dreamliners.
