US-based Avionica has been selected to provide its new e-Enabled solution for a fleet of Cathay Pacific aircraft.

As part of the deal, Avionica will integrate and supply the airline’s e-Enabled, airborne global connectivity programme.

"Avionica’s STC design data package is of among the highest quality that we have seen.”

Avionica’s solution will be deployed across the fleet of Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary Cathay Dragon, which includes B777, B747, A320 and A330 aircraft types, by early this year.

Comprising the satLINK MAX Iridium satellite communications system; the aviONS onboard network server; avCM 4G cellular device; and avSYNC QAR download, the solution will enable the airline to manage hardware, STC integration, and data transmission.

Cathay Pacific Airways engineering business improvement and lean head Rob Saunders said: “Avionica offers Cathay Pacific an integrated airborne hardware solution for e-enablement and full-time global connectivity.

“As part of their STC integration experience, Avionica’s STC design data package is of among the highest quality that we have seen.”

The company also noted that its e-Enabled solution will provide a single and common set of hardware across Cathay Pacific’s Boeing and Airbus fleets.

Last April, UAE-based carrier flydubai selected Avionica to provide a suite of communications avionics for its 11 next-generation Boeing 737 aircraft.
