Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) has contracted UK-based Commercial Training Solutions (L-3 CTS) to build an Airbus A320 full flight simulator (FFS).

To be built on the basis of L-3’s RealitySeven flight training simulation solution, the new device will be installed at ANA’s Tokyo-based flight training facility, which already has a RealitySeven B787 FFS.

The simulator will start deliver training to airline pilots by next September.

“ANA has affirmed its confidence in L-3’s flexible and cost-effective RealitySeven simulation solution."

L-3 Commercial training solutions president Alan Crawford said: “This award demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality training products and services to meet ANA’s long-term fleet expansion plans.

“By continuing our long-standing relationship, ANA has affirmed its confidence in L-3’s flexible and cost-effective RealitySeven simulation solution.

“Delivery of this trainer will enable ANA to grow its training capacity fleet-wide and ensure its requirements are met into the future.”

Equipped with digital electrical control loading and electric motion systems, L-3’s RealitySeven simulation solutions help reduce power consumption and offers guidance for airlines.

Part of its electronic systems division, L-3’s commercial training solutions provides complete training services, including ab-initio training, airline training, training centres and high-fidelity simulation products, across various commercial platforms.

The company has so far delivered commercial training solutions to customers worldwide.

Last month, L-3 Communications’ integrated sensor systems (ISS) sector had been selected to deliver eight Wescam MX-10D electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) designating turrets to a ministry of defence in the Middle East.
