Russian cargo airline AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), part of Volga-Dnepr Group, has received its fifth Boeing 747-8 Freighter as part of its long-term fleet modernisation strategy.

The new aircraft will be put into service on ABC’s existing route network, connecting Europe, Asia and the US via its hub in Moscow.

AirBridgeCargo Airlines executive president Denis Ilin said: "ABC has already experienced the outstanding payload and operating economics of the 747-8 family."

The new Boeing 747-8 Freighter offers 16% more cargo-carrying capability than the 747-400 and provides low operating costs and improved economics while delivering an enhanced environmental performance.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Middle East, Russia and Central Asia sales vice president Marty Bentrott said that ABC is a valued customer that has built a very successful cargo business using 747 Freighters.

"We are proud of our partnership with ABC, and we are confident that they will continue to grow their business successfully as their fleet expands," Bentrott added.
