Air Côte d’Ivoire places order for two Q400 NextGen aircraft

Ivory Coast flag carrier Air Côte d’Ivoire has placed an order with Bombardier Commercial Aircraft for two Q400 NextGen aircraft.

Air Côte d’Ivoire has excercised its option for two additional aircraft following a firm order for two Q400 NextGen aircraft in December 2013.

The firm order for two Q400 NextGen turboprops is valued at approximately $69m, based on the list prices.

Air Côte d’Ivoire CEO René Décurey said: "The demonstrated performance of the Q400 NextGen aircraft has been exceptional as we continue to develop our domestic short and medium-haul markets and increase our route network.

"It’s the most productive, flexible and economical aircraft for our growth strategy and its dual-class cabin fits well with an overall service offering that has been wonderfully received by our passengers."

The Q400 NextGen aircraft is designed for short-haul operations, and is said to offer perfect balance of passenger comfort and operating economics while maintaining reduced environmental footprint.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS sales vice president Ryan DeBrusk said: "The growth of the Q400 turboprop and CRJ regional jet fleets in Africa is evidence that airlines there are developing strong regional networks with modern, efficient aircraft to serve point-to-point destinations within the regions, as well as feed intercontinental traffic at major hubs."

Available with an optional dual-class interior, the Q400 NextGen aircraft can also be configured with up to 86 seats for high-density markets as well as a cargo-passenger combi configuration.

With the latest order, Bombardier has logged 541 firm orders for Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft from more than 50 owners and operators in around 40 countries on six continents.
