Aerolíneas Argentinas

Aerolíneas Argentinas has entered into a purchase agreement with Airbus for four A330-200 aircraft as part of the carrier’s plan to renew and consolidate its wide-body fleet.

The airline will put its new A330 aircraft in service on medium and long-haul flights from its Buenos Aires hub to destinations across Latin America, Europe and the US, with engine selection for the aircraft will be announced at a later date.

Aerolíneas Argentinas currently operates eight A340-300s, four A340-200s and four A330 jets.

Aerolíneas Argentinas president Mariano Recalde said: "This wide-body aircraft provides the latest innovation, modern interior design and onboard entertainment, while allowing us to significantly improve our fleet’s operational and economic efficiencies."

Airbus’ A330 Family aircraft, which can accommodate 250-300 passengers, include Freighter, VIP, and Military Transport/Tanker variants.

To date, the aircraft family has secured more than 1,300 orders, with in excess of 1,000 aircraft already flying with around 100 operators worldwide.

Airbus Customers chief operating officer John Leahy said: "Airbus is consistently investing in the development of the A330 Family to ensure its continued leadership in reliability and operating economics."
