Boeing will provide the tools for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-R Series (GOES-R) weather satellites' integrated ground system.
The systems engineering expertise and data distribution tools will be provided under a contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The ground system will operate the GOES-R and -S satellites on orbit and will also generate and distribute weather and scientific data.
The data will be used by weather forecasters and scientists to analyse changing climate conditions and to predict dangerous storms.
Boeing is the prime contractor for Harris Corporation's ground systems, GOES N-P satellite series.
