Goodrich Air Data System set for Bombardier Learjet 85

01 July 2009

Bombardier's new mid-size business aircraft Learjet 85 will be fitted with Goodrich Corporation's SmartProbe air data system.

The next-generation system will provide critical air data parameters such as stall protection for flight control and pilot display.

The air data system comprises multi-function sensing probes, pressure sensors and air data computer processing.

SmartProbe is suited for traditional and fully fly-by-wire flight control applications and will lessen the overall system cost, weight and complexity.

The mid-size Learjet 85 with a capacity for eight fliers will have an all-composite structure decreasing drag on the plane and increasing its performance. The craft can fly at high-speed cruise of Mach 0.82 and a range of up to 3,000nm.

The business jet is scheduled to enter into service in 2013.
