Thai Airways International (THAI) and Airbus have signed a letter of intent for the development of Airbus Smarter Fuel Efficiency and Smarter Mobility solutions.

Smarter Fuel Efficiency will improve the Thai carrier’s fuel-saving performance, while reducing workload through advanced gathering and monitoring of its operational fleet data.

Smarter Mobility supports line maintenance and engineering works by making it easy to access troubleshooting information and technical documentation on different mobile devices from different locations.

Thai Airways International Technical Department executive vice-president Montree Jumrieng said that the Smarter Fleet Solutions will add value to the airline’s business by managing big data, advanced analytics and asset optimisation needed in today’s commercial aircraft operations.

"Smarter Fleet will especially serve the objective of efficiently monitoring fuel consumption to maximise the utilisation and reliability of our fleet," Jumrieng said.

Airbus Smarter Fleet Solutions, which was launched in 2013, provides airlines and operators with advanced IT services for maintenance, engineering and flight operations.

The services improve operational efficiencies, and help airlines manage their aircraft more effectively, while enhancing customer service by smarter use of big data.

Airbus customer services SVP Didier Lux said that the company’s Smarter Fuel Efficiency solution will provide enhanced fuel savings, an improved return on fuel initiatives and ease decision-making to improve operational efficiencies.

"Furthermore, through our Smarter Mobility offer Thai will benefit from new powerful business and mission capabilities," Lux said.
