South African carrier Comair has selected Honeywell International’s advanced cockpit technologies for its future fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Under the agreement, the 737 MAX fleet will be equipped with Honeywell’s Integrated Multi-Mode Receiver and IntuVue RDR-4000 3D Weather Radar system.

The Integrated Multi-Mode Receiver is designed to provide updated radio navigation capabilities with satellite and ground-based navigation in a single lightweight receiver.

The automatic commercial IntuVue RDR-4000 3D Weather Radar has been designed to show weather in the aircraft’s flight path and helps detect inclement weather 5% farther than any other system.

Both the Honeywell technologies are capable of working together to help pilots prepare for and respond to new or difficult runway approaches and dangerous weather conditions.

They are expected to help Comair increase passenger safety and comfort, in addition to enabling the carrier to comply with future flight safety regulations.

Additionally, Honeywell will provide its SmartTraffic Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System, and the Mark II+ Communications Management Unit, which can manage two-way data link communications between the aircraft and the ground.

In January this year, United Airlines selected various Honeywell cockpit technologies to power its new fleet of more than 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
