Kaefer Insulation and Noise Reduction for Aircraft Interiors

Working with airlines, major OEMs and technology partners, the Kaefer’s aerospace division makes air travel safer and more comfortable. We create the future of the aircraft cabin with great skill and resourcefulness, using new materials and innovative processes: not too loud, not too warm and not too cold.

We offer innovative solutions and services for all-round development, engineering, production, installation, servicing and product support for the aviation industry. The division benefits from the strong backing of the group and our decades of experience in the core fields of heat and cold insulation, noise and fire protection.

Noise-reduction for civil, cargo and military aircraft

In collaboration with our customers and partners, we confront the complex challenges of the aviation business and bring bold new solutions to the table – as a competent interiors partner for civil, cargo and military aircraft.

Insulation for aircraft cabins

Aircraft cabins make formidable demands of insulation systems. Temperature differences of up to 80°C need to be absorbed and noise emissions have to be reduced by 30 to 70 dB according to frequency.

As a specialist for heat and cold insulation, noise and fire protection, we are a competent partner for the cabin climate. The wide range of specifications means that we develop and produce tailored solutions for every type of aircraft and application. Our capabilities include:

  • Thermal protection: outside temperature = -60 °C, inside temperature = +20 °C
  • Noise protection: transmission loss less than 40 dB
  • CFRP fuselage: transmission loss less than 45 dB
  • Fire protection: complies with FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) 25.856 (b)

Aircraft interiors and air ducting

Our wall, ceiling and floor systems, air-conditioning and ventilation systems and interior components are based on plastic components reinforced with fibre glass and carbon fibre. Their special properties make them highly suitable for use in aircraft cabins.

Properties of our aircraft interiors and air ducting include:

  • Complies with the FST (fire, smoke, toxicity) requirements of the American FAA (Federal Aviation Administration)
  • Ultra light
  • Long lasting
  • Efficient
  • High-quality surface

We develop, produce and install tailor-made solutions for every customer. A range of production methods enable us to manufacture to any shape or design the customer wants and to ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
