Dalau - Aircraft Precision-Machined Plastic Components

Dalau specialises in the precision-machining of plastic aircraft components in all aerospace engineering plastics. Our products are constructed to the medical, electronic, and aerospace industries' most stringent technical specifications.

Dalau utilises PTFE, PEEK, PA, PE, ETFE and numerous engineering plastics for prototypes, small batches of products and large-volume runs. All these are in addition to our world-renowned Dalcon range of PTFE, under the Dalcon trademark.

We pride ourselves on our flexibility and adaptability in delivering parts, whether the requirement is for small or large quantities.

HIGH-PRECISION FIVE-AXIS VERTICAL-MACHINING CENTRE

Dalau's high-precision five-axis vertical-machining centre possesses a dedicated rotary solution for one-hit machining, with 20,000rpm for high-speed machining. It also has a fully-integrated high-capacity five-axis trunnion-table for five-sided and simultaneous machining.

The 350mm faceplate of the Dalau five-axis vertical-machining centre enables aircraft parts up to 400mm (15.7in) in diameter and 300mm (11.8in) high to be comfortably machined. The ergonomic design ensures easy set-up and operation.

GLOBAL CMM MEASURING MACHINERY

Our global-coordinate measuring-machine offers the most technologically-advanced product-line in 3D metrology currently available. The Global® platform is designed to deliver superior performance in all machine characteristics, including accuracy, speed, environment, reliability, and ease of use.

The Global CMM's technology combines cutting-edge mechanical innovations, state-of-the-art motion controllers, advanced temperature-compensation models and PC-DMIS (the world's most sophisticated and popular metrology software), to create the perfect solution for today's ever-changing manufacturing environment.

STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL (SPC)

Our commitment to quality is paramount. As a result we've invested heavily in effective quality-management and monitoring processes that can be relied upon for high-quality products.

At the heart of our quality regime is our proprietary Statistical Process Control (SPC) system. Every part of our production process is recorded on SPC allowing complex computer models to monitor and maintain high production-standards, which ensures a constant high-quality across every finished product.

Samples are analysed at all stages of production and the results are kept on computer record for a period of seven years. This ensures full traceability on every extruded, moulded or skived aircraft product and machined aerospace component, right from beginning work on the raw material to the finished article.

This quality system was first approved by the Aeronautical Inspectorate Directorate (AID) in 1956. Today, Dalau operates a Total Quality Management (TQM) system that forms the basis of day-to-day production processes. We meet the exacting standards of:

  • BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 (certificate number Q5588)
  • Rolls-Royce plc. CQC-103 (certificate number 80950)
  • UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certification Dalcon 001 E135533
  • EN 46001 compliant
  • AS9100 Aerospace Approval (certificate number Q05588)

POWERSHAPE CAD SOFTWARE

We use Delcam's advanced PowerSHAPE CADCAM software to produce the most complex plastic aircraft components. PowerSHAPE CAD software provides a complete environment to take your product ideas from concept to reality. The software offers unrivalled freedom to manipulate the surface form of the CAD model, build from wire frame and make changes with solid feature operation.

CNC MULTI-AXIS CENTRES

Components made to drawing are produced in our CNC multi-axis centres. The whole manufacturing and inspection process is carried out in a climate-controlled environment, and clean-room facilities are available for high-specification component customers.

Our manufacturing facilities include turning centres with capabilities <1mm to 380mm in diameter, able to produce over 100 million components a year using both multi-axis CNC machining centres, and Swiss Sliding-Head machines.
