Red Box International was formed in 1993 and distributes power and security products to over 60 countries. The company operates from a modern purpose-built UK factory and is justifiably proud of its reputation as a market leader in supply of portable power technology to the aviation industry and military operators.

RB RANGE – PORTABLE DC GROUND POWER UNITS

Red Box portable Ground Power Units (GPUs) and continuous power systems provide independent portable DC power. Whether for engine starting or technical support, they are ideal for use in remote locations or situations where permanent power sources are not available. Our portable GPUs are ruggedly built and capable of starting jet engines, battle tanks, marine diesels, trucks or heavy earthmovers.

We provide a range of units to suit most needs and operational requirements. Typical units have been in production for over 11 years and are in everyday use throughout the world in many military operations, including NATO.

Our GPUs provide vital support throughout the aviation industry, public utilities, offshore exploration, transport and trucking, and with many police / emergency services.

Each portable GPU is normally sold as a complete, ready to use system. Included is a multistage, automatic charger and heavy-duty power cables with appropriate NATO three-pin connector or high-grade clips

TC RANGE – AIRCRAFT START POWER UNITS

The TC 400 series are designed for start power giving a maximum of 6,000A in a highly portable package.

The TC3000 series are a combination of the TC400 series unit with a continuous DC supply, giving 50A, 100A, 150A or 200A at 28V and up to 6,000A for starting.

These systems are suitable for a wide range of applications, supplying auxiliary power for servicing, pre-flight checks, diagnostic, training or demonstrations.

They can be easily transported for use on the ramp, in the workshop or out in the field. If required they can be simply and cost effectively transported to a different location or transported in the aircraft. These units can also be supplied for fixed installation use.

RBSC RANGE – CONTINUOUS POWER SUPPLIES

The RBSC range of continuous power supplies evolved from the power units designed for the TC-based product. Developed was a 50A, lightweight switched-mode module that can be combined to produce DC outputs of virtually any size, however the common sizes are 50A, 100A, 150A and 200A.

In the aviation and military markets these units are typically 28.5V, however these units can be fixed voltage (2V to 30V) selectable or adjustable, running from AC input, ranging from 190VAC to 270VAC, 45Hz to 65Hz. They are normally 220V-based systems due to the duty of input current; however other input voltages are available.

Using switchmode technology, these units are extremely lightweight and highly portable and provide stable DC power for general maintenance, gear servicing, avionics work, powering communication equipment, crew training or weapons systems checks.

Available for a wide range of applications for both fixed and rotary wing aircraft, for commercial and military applications - these units are ideal for laboratory or workshop use for maintenance, repairs or calibration.

RBC5000 – TRANSFORMER RECTIFIER UNITS

When there is a requirement for 28.5V continuous power for heavy work on base, or for larger aircraft, Red Box provides Transformer Rectifier Units (TRU), which can produce up to 600A continuously and 2,000A peak power for starting.

These units convert direct from AC mains supply to 28.5VDC, providing stable outputs capable of rapid to response to a change in load. Together with remote voltage sensing this provides high quality, steady DC at the aircraft plug.

RBC6000 – FREQUENCY / VOLTAGE CONVERTERS FOR AC AIRCRAFT

For 115V, 400Hz AC powered aircraft; Red Box can provide a range of frequency / voltage converters, rated from 5kVA to 60kVA. They can be configured to operate from almost any single or three phase supply. These continuously rated units are for aircraft ramp, workshop, laboratory or production line use.
