Finnair was founded in 1923 and we have been in the maintenance business ever since. Today the full technical support of Finnair Technical Services covers airframes and modifications, engines/APUs, components, pooling, landing gears, engineering, line maintenance, technical training and 24hr customer service for ATR42/72, the A320 family, the MD80 family, B757 and MD11 aircraft.

Finnair Technical Services has the JAR145, FAA and CAAC part 145 maintenance organization approvals. Being a division of a major airline operator gives us a greater understanding of the maintenance needs of other operators. By performing around 90% of the maintenance work required for the support of the Finnair fleet in-house, we also know how to respond to these needs.

AIRFRAME HEAVY MAINTENANCE

We perform heavy checks to exacting standards according to your program, whether you operate the A320 family, the MD80 family, B757, MD11, ATR42/72 or SAAB340 aircraft. Four state-of-the-art maintenance hangars are in use at Helsinki-Vantaa airport for aircraft heavy maintenance. Our customers also benefit from the services of our back shops and engineering department, which are located in the same area.

BARREL NUT INSPECTIONS, FMS AND TCAS RETROFITS AND EGPWS AND COCKPIT SECURITY DOOR INSTALLATIONS

We also perform large modifications such as

• MD80 FMS and TCAS retrofits
• MD11 insulation blanket installations
• MD11 barrel nut inspections and repair
• MD11 pylon modifications
• ATR42/72 and MD11 EGPWS installations
• Cockpit security door installations

COMPONENT SUPPORT, CONSIGNMENT STOCKS AND POOLING SERVICES

Our third party customers benefit from the same extensive in-house component repair, overhaul capabilities and experience as our own fleet. Based on your needs, we can also arrange pooling services to support your operations. Our repair shop approvals cover all component classes (JAA: classes C1 to C20; FAA: instruments, radios, accessories and emergency equipment) and a dual release service can be provided for a high number of components.

ENGINE AND APU SUPPORT

Complete service is offered for GTCP85-98 and APIC APS3200 APUs and PW120/124, JT8D-219, CFM56-5B and CF6-80 engines.

LANDING GEAR OVERHAULS

We offer landing gear overhauls for DC9, MD80 and ATR42/72 landing gears with cost-effective pricing structures and exacting quality. We are currently building on our capabilities for supporting the A320 family.

AIRCRAFT LINE MAINTENANCE AND DE-ICING SERVICES

We provide 24/7 main base service support at Helsinki-Vantaa airport covering:

• Service checks from transit and overnight stops up to full A-checks on a variety of aircraft types
• De-icing/anti-icing services

TECHNICAL TRAINING

With modern facilities and highly competent staff we offer:

• Training packages for technical personnel using modern training methods, including Computer-Based Training (CBT)
• On-the-job-training
• Special courses such as human factors training, de-icing, winter operations, etc.
