Australian Fuel Cells - Aircraft Fuel Cell Manufacture and Repair

Australian Fuel Cells (AFC) and its non-military derivative, AAM Technologies, are dedicated to providing support to customers in military, commercial and private aviation, as well as automotive and marine applications. We specialise in the repair and manufacture of flexible fuel cell bladders, and helicopter floatation systems. Our approvals include CASA, Military AMO, ISO 9001, and most OEMs.

Military fuel cell repair services

AFC is approved to repair all types of military fuel cells including bladder-style, crashworthy and self-sealing construction. We are AMO accredited by the Australian Defence Force, and a participant in industry offset agreements. Our Quality System is ISO 9001-2008 compliant and our technicians are OEM trained. We have been audited and approved by some of the leading aircraft manufacturers and military organisations. Through our approval by the world’s major fuel cell manufacturers we are able to repair most cells at short turnaround.

Commercial aircraft fuel cell manufacture and repair

AFC manufactures and repairs aircraft fuel cells and is able to repair any brand through our CASA approval. We can also supply new cells if the repair item is uneconomical to repair. We understand the need for short turn- around times for commercial aircraft and an AOG service is available for very urgent jobs. If necessary, an on-site service is available for applications where shipping of the cell is not economical. We also manufacture fuel tanks for ferry or long range flight, to suit a variety of aircraft. We can organise Engineering Orders to legalise the installation of ferry systems.

Helicopter floatation systems

AFC is approved for servicing helicopter floatation systems and can handle the entire system, from float bags, to bottles, valves, hosing, etc. As OEM agents we can also supply new individual float bags or entire systems. We service systems from the small Robinson R44 helicopter up to large navy helicopters such as the Kaman Sea Sprite.

Racing-car fuel safety bladders

AFC is FIA approved to manufacture race car fuel safety bladders to FT3 standard and we can custom make to suit any special location or configuration as required. We also repair other manufacturer’s race car bladders, subject to FIA rules and limitations.

Custom safety bladders for the marine industry

AFC manufactures custom bladders for fuel, hydraulic oil, ballast, potable water and waste, to name a few common applications. We frequently make custom safety bladders for race boats utilising anti-explosion foam technology.
