Aerostar - Aviation Maintenance, Landing Gears and Hydraulic Components

Aerostar, from Romania, provide civil aviation maintenance, jet engine overhaul, aviation landing gears and hydraulic components, avionics systems integration, and aero-structures manufacturing.

More than 2,500 aircraft are fitted with landing gears and aviation hydro-pneumatic equipment manufactured by Aerostar, we have overhauled over 3,500 aircraft and over 6,000 jet engines.

CIVIL AVIATION MAINTENANCE

The company is authorised Part-145 for civil aviation maintenance and has completed all necessary activities in this field. Today we are authorised for civil aviation maintenance on Boeing 737 aircraft series 200-900, BAe 146 series 100-300 and AVRO 146 series RJ70 / RJ85 / RJ100 / RJ115, as well as for certain components and systems on SAAB 340 and SAAB 2000 aircraft.

According to regulations, the certified types of activities are level A, B, C and D maintenance, structural modifications and avionics upgrades.

BAe Systems (UK), which acts in the defence and aerospace industries, has assigned Aerostar as prime contractor in the conversion from a passenger to cargo programme, launched at the end of January 2007. The first stage of the programme contains the conversion of two BAe 146-200 aircraft.

JET ENGINE OVERHAUL

Aerostar can provide overhaul of jet engines. We have built up technological and logistic ability to recover the operational potential of all jet engines from the inventory of the Romanian Air Forces (our main customer) and also other aircraft belonging to foreign customers.

Engine types overhauled by Aerostar include:

• VK-1 and WJ-5

The engines are completely dismantled, each component being repaired in compliance with its specific route card. Mandatory replacements are performed, the rotables (compressor and turbine rotors) are dynamically balanced, and after general assembly bench runs are executed in a computer-aided installation and final detailed adjustments are applied. Finally, the engine is directed to the airplane area in order to be installed on the aircraft or delivered directly to the client.

LANDING GEAR AND HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS

Aerostar is the only Romanian producer of landing gear and hydraulic components for all types of aircraft made in the country, performed in accordance with the licence of the original producer or in accordance with our own developed documentation of such equipment.

By getting the specific approvals, qualification and authorisation of specific processes, the company aims to increase market accessibility of aviation hydro-pneumatic components.

LANDING GEAR MACHINING

Aerostar is an A2 level agreed supplier for machining of complete aircraft landing gear for Messier Dowty. During the assessment and selection survey, the company passed through an ample process to fulfil the specific quality requirements required for the Messier Dowty suppliers.

In the machining area dedicated to the production of landing gears and hydraulics, Aerostar improves the technological flow, invests in CNC centres and machines, and trains its personnel in accordance with the up-to-date technological requirements.

The success of Aerostar's measurement and training programme programme has a strategic importance to place Aerostar as a major supplier for aviation components and landing gears.

AVIONICS SYSTEMS INTEGRATION

As a result of upgrading the MiG-21 fleet of the Romanian Air Force in the 1990s, Aerostar developed an important capability in avionic systems. This activity has the goals of integrating different avionic components (from various suppliers) in complex systems; removing non-compatibility risks; lab testing of all the possible situations which can occur during the missions; and installation and testing of avionic components on aircraft.

In parallel with this capability, we have developed the internal potential for manufacturing harnesses and cables capable of supplying the systems with power and data transfer as the operational requirements demand.

AERO-STRUCTURES MANUFACTURING

The increase of the turnover on the civil market has as its core the manufacturing of aero-structures and aviation components as a Part-21 subpart G authorised subcontractor, according to the EASA regulations and / or under main contractor authorisation.
