RECARO, a trendsetter in ergonomic seat concepts and Lantal, famous for its textiles and lightweight fabrics, join their know-how to develop a new pneumatic seat cushion. The focus of the innovative project is an adaptable pneumatic seat cushion, passively or actively enhancing passenger comfort with pneumatic actuators replacing electronic systems.
Since 2001, Lantal has been pursuing the idea of the light pneumatic technology to replace foam cushions. During Aircraft Interiors Expo 2004, Recaro agreed to bring in its ergonomic experience and knowledge of aircraft seat concepts. The new pneumatic seat cushion will be ready to market towards the end of 2004, right on time not only for the next aircraft generation, but also for any retrofit program.
RECARO and Lantal will finalize the innovation of the new material technology to integrate the different functionalities of foam, supporting tissue and massage cushion in just one single intelligent material. The dual advantage is a lighter pneumatic seat cushion with added Recaro ergonomic comfort criteria.
RECARO’s newest kinematic design for passenger seating and Lantal’s experience in textiles for transportation are the ideal combination to extend the art of ergonomic seating with this enhanced product development.
