PFLX140-500 RF Coax Is Another in a Long Line of EMTEQ Weight-Saving Products

New Berlin, WI – Aircraft system integrator EMTEQ has introduced its new PFLX140-500 coaxial cable, the aviation industry's lightest 50 ohm, single-conductor, double-shielded coax.

At 0.14in in diameter, about the width of a cooked spaghetti noodle, and weighing 1.28lbs per 100ft, PFLX140-500 is flexible enough to tie in a loose knot. With an outer shield of aircraft grade polyethylene, the new PFLX140-500 offers more than 90dB shielding effectiveness, produces low smoke and no halogen, and is resistant to Skydrol and other hydraulic fluids.

The product was designed to MIL-C-17 and meets FAA flammability testing requirements, as well as Airbus's and Boeing's smoke and toxic gas emission tests. The new PFLX140-500 terminates to a pre-existing line of EMTEQ coax connectors.

EMTEQ President Jerry Jendusa said his company saw a need in the aviation market for an RF cable that was ultra-low weight. Because of its electrical performance properties, PFLX140-500 is ideally suited for applications where an attenuator is typically used, such as in SATCOM installations, saving on installation time and money. SkyWatch installations would also realise weight savings with the installation of EMTEQ's PFLX140-500 cable.

As a system integrator for the corporate, VIP / HOS, commercial, and military markets, EMTEQ offers a range of value-added products and services, including installation kits, avionics systems, electrical systems, lighting packages and other electromechanical products, along with engineering, certification and technical support.
