Cabinair Cuts Cost of Passenger Seat Refurbishment with New Arm Cap Repair System

10 December 2009

Cabinair Services has recently implemented a new system to repair and refurbish rubberised arm caps.

For many years, operators and MORs have struggled to find a long-term repair scheme for passenger seat rubber arm caps. The new Cabinair system gives worn-out and faded arm caps a makeover by filling holes with a flexible material and replicating the surface texture before adding a new paint finish. The system is water-based and conforms with CS25.853.

Cabinair's managing director Tony Balazs said: "When our customers put sets of seats through our workshop, the arm caps can sometimes be a bugbear. Typically, the arm substrate is okay, but the rubber looks tatty. In the past we had to order replacements, which caused delays and higher costs. With the new system, projects can go ahead more quickly and at a fraction of the cost of a replacement."
